Withal marks the rebrand and strategic revamp of the Scoutmob brand post-acquisition. Now collaborating with upscale makers the brands goal was to shift to offer a more premium product set. These products, characterized by their diverse offerings and style, shared a consistent theme of warmth and quality.

Rather than imposing a specific photography style, the vendor images guided and set the tone for the brand's development, acting as the foundational inspiration moving forward. Below you will see some of the product and lifestyle images we received from the Withal creators.

Logo Exploration Round 1
The initial logo exploration showed promise, but for an 
e-commerce marketplace that typically favors simplicity over elaborate design elements due to the diverse product sets, the logo needed to convey a the story and become memorable. This realization prompted a return to the drawing board. Like, literally...
THE LOGO
Upon further exploration, we arrived at an even more organic logo, placing emphasis on the underline as the signature element. The final mark pays tribute to the brand's handmade products, while the underline reinforces the definition of "withal," and also resembles a sign-off in a handwritten letter.
Brand Colors
For Withal’s color scheme we wanted something warm and inviting. Something with love. Something that felt like southern hospitality but could also as the ability to house modern products with clean hard lines. Essentially we went “southerners have a cocktail picnic in L.A.”.

Swag set for makers, influencers and premium members of the Withal network.
Brand Typography
Withal's goal was to sell great products but they were also intended to be great story tellers. Each of the typefaces are nods to old southern hospitality brands headlines and old newspapers.

Primary Typography: This mark became a critical memorable branding element for cups, stickers, hats and other collateral.

Secondary Typeface: Baskerville is a relatively common typeface but I wanted to balance it out with some of the heaver headlines

WEB DESIGN
Due to the noise from many vendors different types of photography styling web design elements were kept minimal in volume but unique qualities.

Elements were inspired by the details of old southern craftsman homes.
WEB JOURNALS
For some of our content pieces we were given artist sketches to lightly populate behind the article at 2% opacity in order to give it a small touch of craft and personalization.
NEWSPAPERS
Withal released quarterly newspapers with their online content available in print.
EMAIL AND BANNERS
During the first round of logo exploration we wanted to harp on the idea of the coin having the duality.
OUT OF HOME
Withal's out of home advertisements were allowed to break the mold form the website and have a little more play in their grid. A kind of “purposeful madness” aesthetic.
